GrabCAD Light the Way: Generative Design Competition to create a 3D Printable Lamp Design for Sonar+D Festival
Where 3D printing, design, and creativity merge, a unique combination of innovation and experimentation appears. The GrabCAD Light the Way Design Challenge triggers the users of Generative Design to use data as a driver for design generating algorithms.

One week Generative Design Challenge
The Design Challenge – lasting for only one short week – was initiated by FabLab Barcelona, MakerBot and IN(3D)USTRY. Users were invited to explore the creative limits of Generative Design and 3D printing by creating a light fixture to be displayed during the Sonar+D creativity festival, running from June 16-18 in Barcelona, Spain.

Generative Design 3D Printable Lamp
The generatively designed 3D printable lamp – coming either in a table version or as a pendant – should be inspired by music, art or energy. Also, the lamp should contain a widely accepted light bulb – the E27, as LED energy saver with a power of 400 lumen.
Winners Rewards and Showcase
The top three winning designs will be showcased at the “IN(3D)USTRY From Needs to Solutions” Maker Pro exhibition taking place during the Sonar+D creativity festival in Barcelona, Spain.

In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to participate in IMPRIMIDA, an exclusive workshop also taking place at the creativity festival “Sonar+D”.
The deadline for entries has passed already (June 6th), there were 230 submissions in total. The finalists were announced by June 16, 2016. It’s now waiting for the winners, they will be announced soon, by June 21, 2016.
